We have reached the first full three day movie weekend for 2011. Unfortunately this weekend doesn’t have much more to offer us than last weekend did with Blue Valentine (Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams) and Another Year (Jim Broadbent and Ruth Sheen). This weekend there is only one new film being released, Season of the Witch starring Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman. Check out the movie preview below. Season of the Witch Nicholas Cage is Behmen the crusader who after returning from years of battle finds his homeland has been overtaken by the Black Plague. Behmen and his comrade Felson (Ron Perlman) are summoned to take an accused witch (Clair Foy) to a secluded abbey where the monks will remove her evil powers. The treacherous and mystical expedition that the group makes is sure to keep viewers wanting more. This film should perform well this weekend without a lot of competition. Next week will be a different story for the film as it will have to go up agaist The Green Hornet and The Dilemma. Season of the Witch is directed by Dominic Sena who also directed Gone in Sixty Seconds (also starring Nicholas Cage) and Swordfish. If you are looking for fantasy film that with a violent edge check out Season of the Witch. If Season of the Witch is not your style there are still other great movies to see at the theaters this weekend. The best performing new movie releases at the box office are the following: 1) Little Fockers (Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Robert De Niro) 2) True Grit (Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld) 3) TRON: Legacy (Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde) 4) Yogi Bear (Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris) 5) The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley) As mentioned earlier in the article next weekend we should return to normal with some strong new releases like: The Green Hornet (Seth Rogen, Jay Chou and Christoph Waltz), The Dilemma (Vince Vaughn, Kevin James and Winona Ryder), and Barney’s Version (Paul Giamatti, Rosamund Pike and Jake Hoffman). There should be something for everyone in the current film offerings. If you are looking for more great film information, check out this great resource for new movie articles. |
