Jeannette feels sick inside. She wants to believe it when her husband tells her that he's only helping out a guy friend with a remodeling project, but something inside makes her question his story.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened.

It seems to Jeannette that her husband won't look her in the eye when he explains why he didn't come home until late at night. His voice also seems a little odd.

But then Jeannette's husband was very sweet and romantic and presented her with a huge bouquet of flowers and took her to a fancy restaurant for dinner. This mixed behavior leaves Jeannette feeling guilty for doubting him...but continuing to doubt him.

Everyone is different.

For some of us, looking others in the eye-- even those we are close to-- just isn't comfortable or a habit. Because of this, it is unreliable to use lack of eye contact as a way to determine whether or not your partner is lying.

It is important to notice body language clues, however.

Think about what your partner's habits or normal ways of being are when it comes to body position, word usage, tone of voice, appearance and anything else you can think of.

Now, compare what you have noticed about his or her lack of eye contact with that baseline.

Look closely at the inconsistencies between how your partner is acting, looking and talking now and how he or she used to act, look and talk.

This can be key to figuring out whether or not your partner is lying and cheating.

Once a person discovers that his or her partner was actually cheating, there is usually a string of indisputable evidence that was simply ignored or not recognized before.

If you feel suspicious, we don't encourage you to jump to any conclusions. We do not recommend that you confront your mate unless you can truly confirm that what you think is going on, actually is.
