| This is a poem that I penned to try to explain to people who do not know me, why I do what I do. Why I bother to take the time to write something that most people have no interest in reading. This is why I write. | |

"I write" I write when I am lonely, To fill the void at night. I write so I will not be scared, When I turn off the light. I write so I can hide the pain, Of knowing my babies will leave. I write so that I can pretend, That even I believe. I write because I have nothing else, That only I can do. I write so I won't cry at night, When I'm missing you. I write so my kids will know, That I had something to say. I write so they might know me, If God calls me away. I write so I can find the peace, That lies so deep within. I write because sometimes it feels, Like my only friend. I write because I have a gift To spell my feelings out. I write because sometimes it seems, Like all I do is shout. I write because it is who I am, Because it's the way I'm made. I write because words can survive, When memories and feelings fade. I write because God wants me to; It's the gift he's given me I write so I won't have to leave this world, For my soul to know it's free. |
